Elevator out at El Cerrito Plaza--SF/Fremont direction

The northbound platform elevator was returned to service on 3/24. We will now be taking out of service the elevator that travels to the platform level on the San Francisco/Fremont bound side of the station from Monday, March 28 through Friday, April 22 for important maintenance work to replace the door assemblies. We will make every effort to return the elevator to service as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, this is the only elevator serving the San Francisco/Fremont bound side of the station. If you are on a Richmond train and need to use an elevator, you should not get off the train at this station.

If you are traveling in the San Francisco/Fremont direction and must go to El Cerrito Plaza Station, we suggest the following:

  1. Stay on the train to North Berkeley Station and get off there. Cross the platform to the opposite side of the station and board a train to El Cerrito Plaza Station.
  2. When you reach the station, there should be a working elevator on that platform which you can take to the concourse-level.

To check and be sure if an elevator is in service before arriving at a station, please call 510-834-LIFT (510-834-5438) or 888-2-ELEVAT (888-235-3828), or sign up for elevator status alerts at www.BART.gov/stations/elevators

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
