Escalator direction change Embarcadero Station

In order to avoid overcrowding at the platform landing of the down escalator at the East Bay end of the Embarcadero Station, from approximately 4:30pm to 6:30pm that escalator will operate in the up direction (Monday through Friday). During this limited period of time, customers who want to use a down escalator to access the platform will have to use the only remaining down escalator at the Daly City end of the station. This will require entering the BART paid area at that end of the station.

While we recognize that this change may be inconvenient for some, we believe that overall passenger safety on the platform will be enhanced. We are continuing to evaluate ways to reduce the level of crowding on the Embarcadero platform, particularly during the afternoon commute, and we ask for your patience and understanding.

If you need immediate assistance, please contact the Station Agent in person or by using a white courtesy phone or, you can share your comments with Customer Services by email, phone, or mail via the "Contact Us" tab at bart.gov/siteinfo/contact.

We apologize for the inconvenience.
