Major escalator repair at 16th/Mission Station 1/10/2018

We are removing from service the street-level escalator on the west side of Mission Street at 16th Street/Mission Station on January 10, 2018. This is a major repair that will replace the escalator controller unit with a new solid-state unit along with other repairs.

The unit will be out of service until approximately mid-April 2018.

BART will perform the same work on ten escalator units at the following stations over the course of two and a half years: Embarcadero, Montgomery, 16th and 24th Mission stations. The work being done involves major electrical system overhaul of existing escalators that continue to malfunction. This repair work is expected to be complete by 2020 and will result in more reliable escalators and access.

You can check escalator status at http://www.bart.gov/stations/escalators.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
