Guaranteed parking carpool program now at Colma, Daly City, South San Francisco
Starting today, commuters can get guaranteed parking until 10AM at the Colma, Daly City or South San Francisco BART Stations when they carpool with Scoop.
BART is collaborating with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and Scoop Technologies to offer commuters the opportunity to secure a parking space by sharing a trip to the station.
BART will set aside parking spaces in the permit area at these BART stations for carpoolers using Scoop. BART already offers this program at Concord, Dublin/Pleasanton, Millbrae, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, Rockridge, San Bruno, and Union City BART stations. So far, thousands of trips have been matched through the program.
“Now commuters can carpool to any San Mateo County BART station with Scoop and get guaranteed parking,” said Barbara Laurenson of the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC).
“We began the Scoop to BART program at the Dublin/Pleasanton Station in January 2017, and it is now available at eleven BART stations,” said Jumana Nabti, Manager of Access Programs at BART. “We see this program as a great way to help people get to stations where parking is limited, especially our more auto-dependent stations.”
To get guaranteed parking at these BART stations, download the app at takescoop.com, use promo code BARTLOVE05 to receive a $5 credit, set your BART station as a destination, and schedule a ride either before 9:00 p.m. the night before the morning commute or by 3:30pm for that evening’s commute. Shortly after the deadline, Scoop notifies commuters who have matched with one of their 100,000+ users. Scoop coordinates with BART to help verify carpoolers and works with BART police to ensure smooth operations every morning.
This program was developed by MTC, BART and Scoop, and made possible with funding from a Federal Transit Administration Mobility on Demand Sandbox grant. The grant includes funding to further enhance the Scoop app to make the trip to BART seamless for commuters. Scoop to BART commuters will be able to find a match, pay or receive money for the carpool, and pay for BART parking through the app.
