Major Escalator Repair at 24th & Mission--Work Continues to June, 2019

Update: 4/30

We removed from service the street-level escalator at the east side of Mission Street at 24th on approximately Wednesday, January 2, 2019 for a major repair.

We replaced the escalator controller unit with a new solid-state unit along with other repairs.

We originally planned to return the unit to service in April, however, due to unexpected delays, the unit will remain out of service until June, 2019.

Update: The 24th and Mission escalators were fitted with new controllers—however, because the escalators are very old, there were some upgrades that had to be made to allow for new parts. As a result of the modifications, the controller must be re-labeled by a nationally recognized testing lab. This process will take approximately a month for re-labeling with an additional month for State approval

You can check escalator status at http://www.bart.gov/stations/escalators.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
