Major escalator repairs at 24th & Mission Station continues through August

Our work (replacing the escalator controller unit with a new solid-state unit along with other repairs) on the escalator at 24th and Mission was delayed because a pigeon chose that spot to build her nest. The project was delayed for 30 days while the eggs hatched and the birds left the nest. We are now waiting for the crew that was reassigned to another project during the shutdown to be free to return and finish repairs, we will also need a State inspection. We expect to continue repairs on the street-level escalator at the east side of Mission Street at 24th starting 7/30. We expect repairs to be completed by 8/16.

Once the repairs are complete on this escalator, and it is returned to service, we will begin the same repairs on the west side escalator (we hope without pigeon nesting delays).

You can check escalator status at http://www.bart.gov/stations/escalators.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
