Embarcadero Station escalator closed for replacement

On Tuesday, March 15th, the easternmost platform escalator inside the Embarcadero Station will be closed as BART’s escalator contractor works to replace the escalator with a new escalator. Work will begin with the installation of a barricade around the escalator unit. The barricade will create a safe workspace for the contractor and protect BART riders from construction activity. This work is expected to be completed by this Fall.

BART crews continue to make progress on escalator and canopy projects along Market Street at the four downtown BART stations. Both contracts are well underway as BART constructs a total of 19 canopies and 41 new street and platform escalators.

We thank you for your patience as we complete these important contracts at our four downtown stations.
