New City of Berkeley parking tax for Ashby and North Berkeley stations goes into effect 9/1/22

The City of Berkeley is now requiring that a 10% tax be imposed on parking fees collected at the Ashby and North Berkeley BART stations. Parking rates will be increased to incorporate the tax, effective September 1st, 2022.

Daily Fee parking will increase from $3.00 to $3.30 per day; Single/Multi-Day Reserved Parking will increase from $6.00 to $6.60 per day, and Monthly Reserved Parking will increase from $105 to $115.50 per month. If you use commuter benefits, please make sure you have sufficient funds allocated. Please note that the parking rate increase will be applied based on date of purchase (i.e. monthly recurring charges will be taxed starting in September for October use).

The net proceeds from the additional fees collected will go directly to the City of Berkeley. BART will not receive any additional revenue from this new tax. For a quick and easy way to pay for all types of BART Parking, download the BART Official app, which accepts credit/debit, PayPal and Venmo for parking payment.
