update 19th St. Oakland station entrance temporarily closing for improvements

As part of our modernization project at 19th Street Oakland Station, we will close the northwest entrance to the station at the corner of 20th Street and Broadway beginning Friday, July 29, 2022. The entrance will be closed for approximately 10 days so crews can install the infrastructure for a new station agent booth and relocate fare gates. Please note the canopy-covered entrance across the street will remain open (see map).

During this time there will be no fare gates available at the north end of the station. Temporary wayfinding signs will be installed to direct customers to the center fare gates nearest the station restrooms. Plywood barriers will be installed around work areas inside of the station to keep riders and staff safe from construction activities.

Other improvements being made at 19th Street Station as part of the modernization project include the installation of a new concourse to platform elevator, painting of the concourse ceiling, new platform and trackway lighting, new glass fare gate barriers with decorative art in the glazing, and terrazzo tile repairs.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
