Update on service between Concord and Pleasant Hill stations

Updated at 6:30am, September 7:

Service has been restored on both tracks between the Pleasant Hill and Concord stations. Trains will continue to run slow in the area so riders should anticipate delays of approximately 10 minutes. Out of an abundance of caution BART will continue to slow down trains in areas that could be impacted by heat.

Updated at 8pm, September 6:

Just after 5:30 Tuesday evening out of an abundance of caution BART halted train service between the Pleasant Hill and Concord stations due to hot weather. The heat caused a minor deviation in a small section of track between the two stations. The conditions also overheated wayside equipment, which prevented BART from providing single track service. County Connection provided parallel bus service between the two impacted stations. BART is confident our track crews can take advantage of cooler overnight temperatures and resurface the track to correct the alignment and restore service in time for the morning’s commute. Riders should expect a bus bridge through the evening. If we are able to restore service on a single track this evening we will send out a notification.

We will continue to slow trains if temperatures reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit and closely inspect our tracks to do all we can to ensure the safety of our riders.
