Fruitvale Station sidewalk closed for improvements

As part of improvements being made to the east side of Fruitvale Station on 35th Avenue, the sidewalk alongside the station will be closed from July 25, 2022 until approximately December 31, 2022 (see image). The improvements being made will provide wider sidewalks, better lighting, and additional landscaping to improve bicycle and pedestrian access to the station. It will connect the station to a bike path being installed on the opposite side of 35th Avenue as a part of the transit-oriented development project.

The entrance to the station will remain open during construction. Temporary wayfinding signage is in place to direct customers and fencing has been installed around work areas to keep riders and staff safe from construction activities. The sidewalk along Oscar Grant III Way on the south side of Fruitvale Station will remain open throughout this construction period and serves as an alternate station access path.

We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your patience.
