Single Tracking Alert: Service reduced to only one track in the Transbay Tube on three Sundays for critical lighting work (next work date 4/26)
April 15, 2026 Update: This Sunday, April 19 BART will run its normal five-line service to accommodate riders seeking to avoid the planned weekend closure of EB I-80 Bayshore Freeway in San Francisco. The work on lighting in the Transbay Tube that had been planned for 4/19 will instead take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Service impacts for the work include:
- Trains will run every 30 minutes systemwide
- Only 3 lines will be in service (Blue, Yellow, Orange)
- Red and Green Line service will not operate
- A Yellow Line shuttle train will run between SFO and Millbrae all day - Passengers traveling beyond SFO must transfer
The work will also happen on Sunday, June 7, and Sunday, July 19, with similar impacts to BART service.
BART's Trip Planner will be updated on these work days with the updated train schedule.
April 10, 2026 Update: The planned work on Sunday, April 19, has been postponed to a yet to be determined date due to Caltrans planned weekend closure of EB I-80 Bayshore Freeway. BART will provide regular service to welcome riders looking to avoid traffic caused by the closure.
On Sunday, April 19, and Sunday, May 10, BART crews will be in the Transbay Tube to replace lights in the tube. The work will be for the entire day on both Sundays, which will reduce our normal service from two tracks to one. Service impacts on both days will include:
- Trains will run every 30 minutes systemwide
- Only 3 lines will be in service (Blue, Yellow, Orange)
- Red and Green Line service will not operate
- A Yellow Line shuttle train will run between SFO and Millbrae all day - Passengers traveling beyond SFO must transfer
BART’s Trip Planner will be updated to reflect schedule changes for these days. Riders are strongly encouraged to plan their trips in advance.
