Elevator Outage Options and Accessible Path for South Hayward Station

Elevator Outage Options

IF STREET TO PLATFORM 1 AND BRIDGE (BERRYESSA/NORTH SAN JOSÉ) ELEVATOR IS OUT OF SERVICE AND RIDER IS:

  • ARRIVING FROM THE STREET (rider cannot enter station)
    • Rider should take AC Transit to another BART station. The closest station is Hayward.
    • If either of the elevators at Hayward are also out of service, rider could take AC Transit to another station or request a Mitigation Trip.
  • ARRIVING FROM THE PLATFORM (rider cannot exit station)
    • Rider should continue on BART to another station and take AC Transit to destination. The closest station is Union City.
    • If either of the elevators at Hayward are also out of service, rider could take AC Transit from another station or request a Mitigation Trip.

IF BRIDGE TO PLATFORM 2 (RICHMOND, SFO/MILLBRAE) ELEVATOR IS OUT OF SERVICE AND RIDER IS:

  • ARRIVING FROM THE STREET (rider cannot access trains)
    • Rider should take the station elevator to Platform 1 and backtrack to Union City and board desired train.
    • Alternative Option: Rider can take AC Transit to another BART station. The closest station is Hayward.
    • If either of the elevators at Hayward are also out of service, rider could take AC Transit to another station or request a Mitigation Trip.
  • ARRIVING FROM THE PLATFORM (rider cannot exit platform)
    • Rider should continue on BART to Hayward, then backtrack to South Hayward and exit using Platform 1 station elevator.
    • Alternative Option: Rider can continue on BART to another station and take AC Transit to destination. The closest station is Hayward.
    • If either of the elevators at Hayward are also out of service, rider could take AC Transit from another station or request a Mitigation Trip.

ENTERING SOUTH HAYWARD STATION

The train platforms at South Hayward Station are located on a raised platform. Concourse is on the street level.

The elevator is located inside the paid area away from the main entrance.

There is only one elevator from the street to the train platform. This elevator will take you to the San Francisco, Richmond bound trains. Press “P” for train platform level.

If heading towards Berryessa/North San José bound trains, cross the walkway over the BART train tracks to the train platform level. This is also the same level to San Francisco, Richmond bound trains. Press “P” for train platform level.

At the train platform level, from either elevator, you will be at the far end.

EXITING SOUTH HAYWARD STATION

The train platforms at South Hayward Station are on located on a raised platform.

Exiting Berryessa/North San José bound train the elevator will be towards the front of the train at the far end of the platform. Elevator will bring you up one level to a walkway. The walkway will take you over the train tracks to a second elevator. This second elevator will provide access to the San Francisco, Richmond bound trains or to the street level.

Exiting San Francisco, Richmond bound train the elevator will be towards the rear of the train. Elevator will take you down to the street level or take you up one level to a walkway. The walkway provides access to the Berryessa/North San José bound trains.

The walkway that connects to San Francisco, Richmond bound trains, take the elevator to the streel level. Press “S” for street level.

When exiting the street level, you will be inside the paid area.
