BART releases overview of station cleaning, maintenance

Cleaning and maintaining our stations is a priority for us at BART and we understand the importance of providing a good experience for our riders passing through one of our 45 stations.  With 130 million riders a year and weekday ridership exceeding 430,000 trips, wear and tear, grime, and dirt can build up quickly despite our best efforts.  During a recent Board meeting, Directors received a comprehensive presentation that outlines BART’s ongoing station maintenance and cleaning schedule.  The presentation details how often each station receives cleaning, power washing and steam cleaning, pigeon abatement, pest control, landscaping, graffiti removal, and more.  It lists the scope of activities crews go through during each shift and which stations get a dedicated crew and which stations share a crew.
