BART offers electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Warm Springs and Lafayette stations.
BART parking payment is required Monday - Friday from 4am - 3pm. Parking payment is not required on weekends and BART parking holidays. Color-coded signs in front of each EV charging stall specify the required type of parking payment for that specific charging space. Click here for information on how to pay for parking. Park in EV Parking for up to 24 hours. See the parking page for additional details.
The cost to charge at the Level 2 EVCS stations is $0.49/kWh 24 hours a day, seven days a week (including holidays). Spaces are designated for monthly parking holders, daily parkers or those purchasing EV reserved parking (see spaces by station below). All EV spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis so we recommend purchasing your parking once you have arrived at the station to ensure a space is available.
Charging Session Initiation
Drivers can start a charging session using one of the following methods:
- EVCS Mobile App: The dedicated mobile app allows drivers to locate stations, start and monitor charging sessions, and manage their accounts. This is the most convenient and preferred method of starting a session.
- QR Code: The stations feature a QR code that drivers can scan with their smartphone to initiate a session without the app. Please follow the instructions on the webpage to "Start Charging Session".
Payment Options
EVCS offers flexible payment options for drivers, including both subscription-based plans for regular users and convenient pay-as-you-go options for occasional charging.
- Subscription Plans: Drivers can choose from various subscription plans that often include benefits like a monthly charging allowance and reduced rates. These plans typically offer both a standard rate and an overage rate if the monthly allotment is exceeded.
- Pay As You Go: For drivers who prefer not to subscribe, EVCS offers straightforward pay-as-you-go options. This can be done either through the EVCS mobile app (without a subscription) or directly at the charging station by scanning a QR code with their phone to initiate a web-based session.
Idle Fees
EVCS will also implement idle fees on all BART chargers. Starting 12 hours after being plugged in, users will be charged $2/hour. After 24 hours, users will be charged $10/hour. Use of an EV space while not actively charging may result in a fine.
If you have additional questions or comments on the EV parking, please visit our EV programs page under the Sustainability section or email [email protected].
