On the evening of Friday, July 19, 2024, BART will perform planned maintenance on the official BART app starting at around 3pm and lasting several hours. During the maintenance, the BART Trip Planner, real time train departures, service alerts, and the fare calculator will continue to be available on the app.  Parking payment features will not be available however parking is free after 3pm and on weekends and the maintenance will be complete in time for weekday riders. For those looking to reserve parking in advance during the maintenance window, they will get a prompt to try again on Saturday when the maintenance is complete. BART’s website for purchasing reserving parking will also be impacted during the same timeframe.

The profile and account setting features will also not be available on the app beginning at around 3pm on July 19, 2024, and lasting several hours.

Following the maintenance, app users will be prompted to update to the latest version of the app.

It's time for Bach in the Subways, a global celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach and his enduring music that invites musicians to play music in public spaces -- including BART stations! 

Performances take place between March 21 and 31 in the non-paid areas of stations. Enjoy the music as you pass through or come down for a special treat! Find the performance schedule -- which is subject to change -- below and on the Bach in the Subways website.

How to play at a BART station

You are welcome to register as a solo artist or with a group. Playing Bach isn't a requirement, but it is recommended.

1) Register here.  
‪2) Apply for BART's free Expressive Activity Permit‬.  
‪3) Show up with your permit and play! 

For participating musicians, BART requires that they not affix any signs on the walls, do not use amplified music, and only perform in non-paid areas of the stations. Bach in the Subways requires that participating musicians not solicit tips or accept any money as it is meant to be a shared gift of musical joy. Read more about requirements and guidelines here.

About Bach in the Subways

Bach in the Subways was started organically in 2010 by New York City-based musician Dale Henderson and has grown into an international event that invites musicians to play Bach in public spaces. Musicians have played in more than 150 cities across 40 countries. Watch a short video of some of last year's performances here.

About Bach in the Subways:

BART invites local musicians to join us and Bach in the Subways for a worldwide celebration of Johann Sebastian Bach and his enduring music from March 21 to 31.‬ Bringing music to our stations and holding more events around the system is part of our strategy to activate stations and improve the customer experience.  

Come listen to the music in the free areas of select stations or sign up to play music yourself (more info on that below). The Performance Schedule can be found here and below. We'll be updating it as people sign up.

This Friday, June 13, the Alameda County Fair returns to Pleasanton for three weeks of family fun, entertainment, music, festivals, and food. 

The Alameda County Fairgrounds, the home of the historic fair, are accessible by transit. Skip the $13+ price tag to park and take BART plus special Wheels shuttle service. 

How to get there 

Take BART to Dublin/Pleasanton Station and exit on the Pleasanton (south) side of the station to catch the Wheels shuttle. Riders should follow wayfinding signs directing them to the right as they exit the BART tunnel.  

The shuttle is operating as Route 52 and will provide hourly service for the duration of the fair, June 13 through July 6, on days the fair is open. The first trip of the day departs Dublin/Pleasanton Station at 11:19am and the second trip at 11:59am. After the 11:59am pickup, the shuttle runs on the hour. The last trip will depart the fairgrounds at 11:18pm. Reference Wheels website for detailed schedule information. The route services the local bus stops en route on Owens Dr. and Hopyard Rd. 

Pickup and drop-off at the fairgrounds are at the Yellow Gate on Pleasanton Ave. across from the ACE station.  

Win to tickets to the fair

Head to BARTable for a chance to win two general admission tickets to the Alameda County Fair, valid for any day during the 2025 season. Enter before Sunday, June 13, at 11:59pm. Three winners will be chosen at random on or about Monday, June 23 and will be contacted via email. 

BART to OAK service will be undergoing planned maintenance on its trackway equipment beginning Wednesday, October 16 until Thursday, October 31. The work will begin at approximately 9pm each night and last until 7am each morning of the work period.  During the maintenance window of 9pm-7am, one track will remain in operation, and trains will arrive every 18 minutes, rather than every 9 minutes.  

This work is necessary preventative maintenance which will help ensure that the BART to OAK service remains safe and reliable.
