Strategic indicator: Escalator Availability

Goal: Optimize and maintain system performance to provide reliable, safe, cost effective and customer focused service

BART is working to improve the reliability of our escalators and elevators by beginning a comprehensive overhaul of escalators and escalators system-wide, hiring more technicians, and through installation of entryway gates and canopies that protect equipment. Our in-service targets for street and platform escalators are 95 and 96 percent, respectively.

About this data

Availability is defined as the percent of time during the month that equipment is available for patron use during revenue service periods.
