The following summarizes each project in more detail:
City of Dublin's Iron Horse Trail Bridge project serving the Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station
- Install a grade-separated crossing of Dublin Boulevard to promote safer and quicker access to the Dublin/Pleasanton station, which will close a major gap in this 30-mile, Class I multi-use trail. The project has a total estimated cost of $14 million. More information here.
City of Fremont's Walnut/Liberty Protected Intersection serving the Fremont BART Station
- Shorten crossing distances, remove channelized right turn lanes and upgrade lighting and bicycle detection to promote greater visibility and safer vehicle turning speeds. The project has a total estimated cost of $1.83 million and supplements other pedestrian and bicycle improvements on Walnut Avenue that have already been installed. More information here.
City of Pittsburg's Pedestrian/Bike Connectivity Project serving the Pittsburg Center BART Station
- Install well-lit walkways and bikeways on four segments:
- Class I multi-use path parallel to eastbound State Route 4 between the BART parking lot and Railroad Avenue;
- Class I multi-use path on the south side of California Avenue between Harbor Street and Railroad Avenue;
- Class I multi-use path on east side Railroad Avenue between Alvarado Avenue/ Delta de Anza Trail and State Route 4 eastbound ramps; and
The project has a total estimated cost of $5.5 million. The city of Pittsburg also plans to add Class II bike lanes to Railroad Avenue between California Avenue and E. 17th Street, which BART is not funding.
